Smoke, hazy skies from CalFire prescribed burn
Published September 8, 2026
Piedmont residents may see or smell smoke coming from a prescribed burn at Angel Island State Park beginning on September 8, 2026.
Smoke will be most visible between 9am and 6pm on burn days. California State Parks officials warn that Bay Area residents may experience hazy air, smoke odors, and reduced air quality for up to three days after burning begins.
If you see or smell smoke and are concerned it may be coming from a fire in or near Piedmont, call 9-1-1. Do not assume smoke is related to the Angel Island Burn.
