Piedmont is a small charter city with about 11,000 residents, located in the Oakland Hills overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Just 1.7 square miles in size, Piedmont is primarily residential and is known for its gardens, parks, schools, and strong sense of place. It's name, meaning "foot of the mountain," reflects its hillside setting.
