Alarm Response

Piedmont Police Department officers respond to alarm calls and document the cause of the alarm’s activation. The department’s record management system keeps track of all alarms. Homeowners will receive a courtesy notice for their first false alarm. Subsequent false alarms may generate fees from the homeowner. False alarm fees are incurred when there are four or more false alarms at a residence within a one calendar year.

False Alarm Fees

  • 4 in one calendar year $50.00
  • 5 in one calendar year $150.00
  • 6 in one calendar year $300.00
  • 7 or more in one calendar year will result in a $100.00 increase for each subsequent false alarm

Residents are encouraged to work with their alarm company to alleviate any false alarm causes. Most alarm companies have a positive relationship with the police department in reducing the number of false alarms.

Vacation Home Check

Vacation Home Check is a service offered to residents who are away from their homes for a period of 4 to 30 days. If requested, members of the police department may periodically check the security of your house. If a problem is discovered, a police officer will respond and handle the situation.

Vacant Home Notification

Vacant Home Notification provides valuable contact information to police personnel to be used in the event of a crime or other incident occurring at the vacant home. This service is available to Piedmont residents who do not require a physical Vacation Home Check or whose property will be vacant for longer than 30 days. No one will physically check the vacant home, unless a specific crime or event is reported.
