At the Piedmont Recreation Department, our preschools provide nurturing, play-based learning environments designed to support the growth and development of young children through hands-on experiences, social exploration, and creative play.
As a public recreation program, our preschools operate as License-Exempt programs under California's Community Care licensing regulations, allowing us the flexibility to offer community-based, enrichment-driven early childhood education.
We proudly serve children ages 18 months and older, with care limits determined by state licensing guidelines:
- Children under three years nine months 3.8 years may attend up to 12 hours per week
- Children three years, nine months and older may attend up to 16 hours per week
These hour limits ensure we maintain in compliance while providing meaningful learning opportunities tailored to each age group.
Whether your child is just beginning their preschool experience, or preparing for TK or kindergarten, PRD Preschool is a warm and welcoming place to learn, grow, and play. Our experienced staff are dedicated in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for every child.
Come explore PRD's play-based programs and experience what it's like to be a part of OUR community!
Preschool Lottery: Open Enrollment Dates
To provide equitable enrollment opportunities, PRD has designed a lottery system to select participants for each preschool program. If selected from the school year lottery, a $500 deposit is due at the time of enrollment.
