Volunteers Sought for Climate Action Plan Task Force

Deadline: Fri., Feb. 24th - 5PM

The City Council is looking for five talented volunteers to assist City staff in the development of a Climate Action Plan for the City of Piedmont.

In 2017, the City of Piedmont will begin updating the City’s Climate Action Plan. Resident input is vital to this process; therefore City Council has established a Climate Action Plan Task Force to assist staff in developing a 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target and strategies to reduce emissions. The City is specifically seeking residents who have an interest or expertise in environmental issues and climate science to serve on this Task Force. The City Council will appoint four of the Task Force’s members and the Board of Education will appoint one Piedmont High School Student.

The Task Force will meet approximately once a month, beginning in the end of March, for one year or until a Draft 2030 Climate Action Plan is completed, whichever is earlier. All meetings of the Task Force will be noticed and open to the public.

Interviews with the City Council for the four positions it will appoint will be scheduled for Monday, March 6, 2017. No appointments to these positions will be made without a Council interview. Piedmont High School Students who are interested in serving are urged to call the Piedmont Unified School District at (510) 594-2614.

Residents with questions are invited to contact the City Clerk’s office at (510) 420-3040.
